One of the staff would run through the kids cabins on Thursday night dressed as the swamp monster. A couple times, a fellow teacher and I hid in an old shack in Upper pasture. As a third teacher brought a group of students up, I would pass in front of the window and the other teacher would bang on some pots. Once, the school director hid a good ways away in the woods and yelled ‘get off my land’ and shot one single shotgun bullet into the air. the next day at breakfast, we would hear the stories. How I had grown from barely 5ft to 10 ft tall with not blue, but red glowing eyes, how bullets were whizzing past the kids ears. That experience AS the monster in question, makes me not just skeptical, but thoroughly amused…especially the red glowing eyes and huge sizes….
