Daniel Arday is a software engineer and researcher who has been investigating the paranormal since 2014. He holds a Master of Science in Applied Artificial Intelligence from the University of San Diego, where his capstone research on automated chest X-ray analysis was published in the university’s 2025 capstone review. He spends his working life building multi-sensor fusion systems, combining camera, thermal, and radio-frequency data into a single picture of what a set of instruments is actually detecting, and he brings that same instrument-first thinking into the field. His current research analyzes near-death experience literature to ask what it might actually be like to be a ghost, and argues that features like atemporality and heightened perception make the usual assumptions in ghost hunting look far too narrow. Daniel has attended paranormal conferences for years, and this is his first time presenting at the Paranormal Research Symposium.
